Kiko Casilla - 5/10

Casilla had a night to forget
Casilla had a night to forget

Casilla did not have a great game between the sticks. He was in no man's land for the first goal and should have stationed himself in a better position to at least have a chance of stopping the goal. He had no chance of saving the second and third goals though, one of which took a massive deflection.

Achraf Hakimi - 6/10

Hakimi could not get forward too often, with Ben Davies' attacking exploits forcing him back into his own half. On one of the few occasions that he did manage to break free, he set up Karim Benzema with a lovely square ball only for the striker's shot to be blocked by Lloris. Hakimi was exposed on a couple of occasions by the Spurs left-back but had a steady game apart from that.

Sergio Ramos - 6.5/10

With Madrid's midfield more or less in shambles throughout the game, Ramos ensured that his side kept the scoreline down to a respectable one. He had a great chance in the first half to get his side level, but guided his header wide of the post. Defensively, he put in a great block against a Harry Kane shot that was heading into the top corner, although Spurs fans would argue that he used his hand to keep the ball out. Ramos made three tackles in all, to go with one interception and a block.

Nacho - 5/10

Nacho allowed Alli goal side of him for the first goal and was not strong enough to prevent the Spurs midfielder from sticking his foot out and giving the London side the lead. While he did manage three tackles and four interceptions, he was often positionally unaware, especially during crosses from the right-hand side.

Marcelo - 6/10

While Marcelo did grow into the game in an attacking sense in the second half, providing dangerous crosses for Benzema and Ronaldo to latch on to, he was a liability otherwise. Failing to track back for most of the game, he allowed Trippier to run riot on the right-hand side, with most of Spurs' attacks coming from that wing. However, he redeemed himself slightly by putting in the ball that led to Ronaldo's goal.

Toni Kroos - 4/10

If Kroos was auditioning for the role of the Invisible Man tonight, he did a stellar job. The German had no impact in the final third whatsoever and struggled to unlock the Spurs defence. While he did have a pass accuracy of 90%, it was due to the fact that most of his passes were either sideways or backward.

Casemiro - 5/10

Casemiro was largely at fault for Tottenham's second goal, sliding in on Alli but failing to stop the midfielder. He often found himself overrun in the midfield and constantly out of position, leaving space in behind for the Spurs attackers to exploit.

Luka Modric - 5/10

Much was expected of Modric against his former side, but the Croatian failed to live up to the billing. Madrid's struggles in the first half could be put down to Modric's failure to provide any incisiveness going forward. A couple of attempted through balls to Ronaldo were easily intercepted and he managed just one key pass in the entire game. Modric also managed just 81 touches over the course of the 90 minutes, meager for a player who commands Madrid's attack.

Isco - 6/10

The Spaniard provided a couple of incisive through balls, but nothing came of them. He also provided seven crosses in what was quite an uneventful game for the 25-year-old. He moved into a deeper role in the second half, which proved to be just as ineffective.

Karim Benzema - 5/10

Benzema had yet another poor game in a Madrid shirt. The Frenchman had a fairly decent chance to get Madrid level, but his near-post curler was easily held by the Spurs keeper. Benzema struggled to get behind the Spurs backline and managed just 38 touches in total. With Benzema struggling for goals in the past couple of seasons, it has been his ability to link up play that has kept him in the side, but he failed to do that effectively on the night.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 7.5/10

Real Madrid's only positive on the night
Real Madrid's only positive on the night

Ronaldo was a passenger in the first thirty-odd minutes, and his frustration was evident. Moving into a more central role after the half-hour mark, he immediately got into the action and had a fierce left-footed drive saved by Lloris. In the second half, he had a couple of chances before finally managing to hit the back of the net ten minutes from the whistle. Ronaldo was arguably Madrid's best player on the night, and the only one who showed any spirit to try and win the game for his side.

Substitutes

Borja Mayoral - 5/10

Mayoral came on in place of Isco to try and inject some impetus into the Madrid attack, something he failed to do.

Marco Asensio - 5/10

Asensio replaced Benzema late in the second half with Madrid desperately chasing the game, but hardly got a touch of the ball.

Theo Hernandez - NA

Theo came on for the last 10 minutes of the game and did not have enough time to create an impact.
