Tottenham striker Harry Kane signs new contract to stay with Spurs till 2020
Kane signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract after an astonishing season where he has already scored 20 goals in all competitions
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane has signed a new five-and-a-half year contract with the club. The new long-term deal will see him stay at the North London club at least until the summer of 2020.
The English striker has been a revelation this season and has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season. No other Premier League striker has scored so many goals so far this season.
Kane had talked about setting milestones this season and has slowly started to deliver, benching the likes of more accomplished names like Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado on the bench.
“I set myself 10 goals (as a target) at the start and then 20 after that,” Kane said.
“I’m there now. I will set myself another little target in my head that I will try and get to, and do it as quickly as possible hopefully.
“There are still a lot of games to go and I’m feeling confident on the pitch at the minute.”
Kane can score 30 goals this season: Pochettino
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino feels that Kane can also breach the 30-goal mark this season.
“I never put a ceiling on any player,” Pochettino said. “If he scores 20, why not 30?
Always he needs the chance to play. I never put the target to my players. If you have potential and can improve it is only up to you.
