Nkoudou is following the Clinton Njie line and may soon be heading towards the exit door

Tottenham Hotspur is not doing all too well in the league this season as the Lilywhites lie at 5th below Liverpool, Chelsea and the Manchester clubs. It is for this season that they are going to be more active in the transfer market—after all, they have all to lose for from now.

With Spurs looking to use the January window, here are some of the players they have been linked with…

#5 Frenchman out

When Tottenham bought Clinton N’Jie from France, many hoped that he would be a real threat from the wings with his raw pace and nimbleness. However, after a season, they lost patience with him and shipped him back to France where he now plays for Marseille.

Then, they signed another winger from France in the form of Kevin Georges N’Koudou. The Frenchman was also bought due to his raw pace and power. However, after a season with him, it has become apparent that he might just be another case of failure like the Cameroonian.

And now, with no room for Erik Lamela in Spurs’ Champions League squad, one player will have to be sacrificed if the Argentine is to play in the grandest of leagues. According to the Guardian, N’Koudou is the player most likely one to be loaned out.

#4 Gaitan has emerged as a target

Sevilla FC v Club Atletico de Madrid - La Liga
Gaitan will leave Atleti

The North London outfit's luck with Argentines might not have yet been the best with the constant injuries to Erik Lamela, but that is not going to stop them for trying out a cheeky bid for Nicolas Gaitan. The agent of the player admitted that he will leave the club in January in order to seek more playing time.

“I can tell you English clubs are interested,” Iribarren told Foot Mercato.

“Yes, he’ll undoubtedly leave Atletico in January. He has a lot of concrete offers. Nicolas was an important player when he played in Argentina, at Benfica and with the national team.

And reports in Spain suggest Tottenham are one of the clubs as they are looking to further creativity in the attacking third and will try to lure him to the club in January.

#3 Luke Shaw could be on the move

Manchester United v Burton Albion - Carabao Cup Third Round
Can Shaw redeem himself at Spurs?

There are ongoing tensions between Tottenham Hotspur and Danny Rose. The English full-back irked the ire of the fans with his controversial remarks on the club signing relatively obscure players instead of well-established stars.

Ever since that episode, Spurs and Rose have become somewhat distant with the left-back looking to leave the club.

Meanwhile, Spurs are on the lookout for a new left-back and targeted Ryan Sessegnon according to various reports. However, with Manchester United also showing interest in the 17-year old, Spurs may have changed their target to the player United have made dispensable with their decision: Luke Shaw.

According to The Guardian, the Spurs might use this as a tool to bring Luke Shaw, who will be sold for an amount around £20m.

#2 Wilfried Zaha to get a chance at a big club......again

Swansea City v Crystal Palace - Premier League
Zaha to finally show it at the grand stage?

One of the players that Spurs have been linked with for quite a while is Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha. The first time he was linked with the North Londoner was during his first stint at Crystal Palace, before Manchester United pounced in and grabbed the starlet.

After that, he was sent back to his childhood club after a disappointing spell at Old Trafford. And now, once again, he is fine form with his childhood club. The talented winger is finally living up to his potential.

With that, like the last time, he has been linked with a move to the Londoners. This rumour also comes from Guardian, who claim that Palace are unwilling to sell their prized asset.

Ed Aaron of The Guardian claims that Crystal Palace rate him at £50 million and will not even consider talks for anything less.

#1 Wonderkid to Wembley?

Sheffield United v Norwich City - Sky Bet Championship
Tottenham seek starlet

Spurs have been more than decent when it comes to grooming British players in the team. Be it Gareth Bale or Dele Alli, the Lilywhites have a way of their own that makes talented youngsters grow up into great players.

And the latest British player to be linked with a move to Spurs is David Brooks. The 20-year-old plays for Championship side Sheffield United, and is apparently on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs, which also includes Tottenham Hotspur.

The Mirror have reported that the youngster is rated around £20million and that Spurs want to get hold of the prodigious talent. His manager, however, states that while the club have been contacted by many Premier League outfits, he wishes to keep a hold on his player.

Chris Wilder, Sheffield United manager, said, "There’s a lot of off-the-record conversations, whether it be agents, or even clubs themselves asking what we are doing."

"But nothing changes from my point of view. David is not for sale because he is part and parcel of what we are doing going forward."
