Tottenham lost back-to-back matches for the first time since May 2016. When Pochettino didn't sign any star player this season, many appreciated the move as it defined continuity within the team and trust for his existing players.

But given that most of Pochettio's side was involved at the World Cup, the team lacked a proper preseason. Injuries to Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris played a major part.
