After the high profile transfer of David Beckham to MLS club LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls now have the services of the beloved Frenchman and ex-gunner Thirry Henry. Playing for New York Red Bulls in a pre-season friendly against old rivals Tottenham, Henry opened the scoring in full style. In doing so, Henry joined a list of elite players who have scored on their debut for New York Red Bulls.

Meanwhile, Tottenham were shocked and surprised by the early setback but Harry Redknapp’s side took total control of the game soon. Ultimately, winning the game by a narrow margin of one goal. The game ended Tottenham 2 – 1 New York Red Bulls.

The highlight of the game was certainly Henry and his presence against his old rivals Tottenham. Henry made his move to New York Red Culls during this transfer season after he was offloaded by Barcelona. Henry is playing his last legs in the MLS side and he believes that New York Red Bulls is a purely professional move. Though the footballing credentials of MLS are in doubt.

Back to the game against Tottenham, Henry opened the scoring in the 25^th minute as he turned a low cross from the left hand side into the back of the net. However, Henry was removed at half-time and that took away the sting from the New York Red Bulls side.

After Henry departed into the dressing room, Tottenham pulled the plug. Robbie Keane equalized in the 62^nd minute as he tapped the ball home at the far post. This was a goal that should be attributed to the defensive errors of the New York Red Bulls.
