Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro has returned to Brazil to deal with his knee injury.

The 24-year-old suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee during Tottenham’s goalless draw against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in January, Xihua reports.

After undergoing reconstruction surgery in London, Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas gave Sandro permission to be treated by doctors at his former club Internacional.

“It will help me a lot being in an environment that I know,” Sandro said in an interview with Globoesporte. “Tottenham know Internacional’s staff and how they treat the players so that helped them release me.”

Sandro is expected to be be fully fit to resume training with the Premier League outfit when the pre-season begins in July.
