Real Madrid set to replace Karim Benzema with Mauro Icardi

A dreadful start to the season for Karim Benzema is set to get worse with the club deciding to offload him next summer. The Daily Mirror has understood that club president Florentino Perez has run out of patience with Benzema and now intends to replace him with Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi.

Icardi has been in sensational form this season and has already bagged 13 league goals in Serie A. Former AC Milan great Daniele Massaro has today said that he expects Icardi to join Real Madrid in July which has further ignited this rumour. The Argentinian wants a move to Spain in order to win back his place with his national side.

Lionel Messi blocks Mesut Ozil's move to FC Barcelona

Diario Gol has claimed that Lionel Messi has told the Barcelona boardroom to drop their interest in Arsenal's runaway star, Mesut Ozil. The Catalans have been linked with the former Real Madrid star for a free transfer next summer but Messi's opinion may change the club's thinking.

Messi believes that Ozil is past his prime and at 29 years of age, he isn't getting any better. He also knows of Ozil's ineffectiveness against the top Premier League sides and has hence blocked the German playmaker's move to Camp Nou.
