TRANSFER NEWS: Henry completes move to New York Red Bulls

MLS Club New York Red Bulls have confirmed the signing of French International Thierry Henry. This move comes after Henry saw himself mostly warming the bench for the Catalan giants last season. This proved to be a fatal blow for him as he was not deemed capable enough to start for the French team in the world cup and saw his country crash out in the first round with a shameful performance. Barcelona had made it pretty clear that Henry was surplus to their requirement and the player himself seemed unhappy with the persisting conditions. He was though still contracted with Barcelona yet was sold on a free transfer basically due to Barcelona’s crunching debt and inability to pay player wages. Moreover they have already bought an alternate in the shape of David Villa.

Henry has supposedly signed a long term deal and will be earning a whopping salary that’s something every talented player going to the states does. He will be wearing the no.14 jersey that has been so much synonymous to him in his career. He will join a fellow ex-premiership star Juan Pablo angel at New York. Henry will surely be a great help for the club but the vice versa can’t be sure, though he has spoken about his wish to reignite his footballing career in America and bluntly told the press that “he is not there (in New York) on a vacation” .The history is against him but he will surely have a big bite of the big apple. Henry has seen his career turn totally 360 degree after he had his dream move to the Catalan capital from arsenal which was the beginning of the decline for him. He was never a success at Barcelona perhaps due to his growing age but still he was never utilised properly by Barcelona who had much better options like Ronaldinho, Messi and recently Ibrahmovich thus he always remained a sidekick at Barcelona despite winning the league and Champions League with them. With this move he will surely be playing much more and being an important part of the team that he always wants to be. At the age of 32, he will be following the footsteps of famous players like Pele, Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff, Lothar Matthaus, Hristo Stoichov and Beckham acting as ambassador to football and try to cultivate football or as the Americans say soccer in USA.
