Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hailed Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes as the Red Devils become frontrunners to sign the attacking midfielder. As per reports, Manchester United are now leading the race to sign the Sporting Lisbon star after offering to pay £62 million for him.

Fernandes scored 29 goals and registered 17 assists for Sporting this season and now finds himself in a transfer tug of war between the eternal rivals of the city of Manchester. Jose Mourinho has lavished praise on his fellow countryman.

Mourinho told Eleven Sports,

‘I was surprised by the season of Bruno Fernandes,’
‘It was easy to predict quality, he is a very good player, but scored a very high number of goals for a midfield player.
‘It shows that you need to have instinct and qualities to score and he has it all.
‘He strikes the ball well, heads well, cool when he is one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He finds space in the penalty area. It’s all there.
