When Manchester United are in the hunt to reinforce a position, a lot of names get thrown into the mix. When they went into the transfer market to find a centre-back this past month, there were hardly any top quality defenders that weren't linked with the club.

One of the prominent names on the list was that of Issa Diop's. However, United ended up signing Harry Maguire from Leicester City and Diop continues to be a West Ham player. Now, he has underlined his commitment to the Hammers by saying that he does not consider West Ham as a springboard to go to another club.

He said,

"West Ham, for me, it was not and is still not a springboard to go elsewhere, it’s the club where I want to try to become the best defender I can be, compared to my qualities,"
"Whether technical, tactical, physical, I still have a large margin of progression.”
