Arsenal's season appeared to be going from bad to worse as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain completed his £40m move to Liverpool earlier in the day. There were concrete reports that the Gunners do not have the money to complete a huge signing on deadline day.

However, according to Sky Sports, Arsenal have agreed a Premier League record fee of £92m (€100m) for the services of AS Monaco sensation Thomas Lemar. The North London outfit were actively pursuing the Frenchman for the better part of the transfer window, and had a couple of bids rejected for the 21-year-old.

Liverpool entered the race for the signing of the coveted youngster only recently and even the Reds had a couple of bids rejected by Monaco for Lemar.
