Following back-to-back defeats against Malaga and Juventus, Barcelona returned to winning ways against Real Sociedad as they recorded a 3-2 win courtesy of some Lionel Messi magic. It was a frantic game between the two sides, which saw Luis Enrique’s side maintain the pressure on league leaders, Real Madrid and who else but Lionel Messi was the man inspiring his team to yet another victory.
The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner opened the scoring for the Camp Nou outfit with a thunderous strike from outside of the box, leaving compatriot Jeronimo Rulli helpless. The Argentine then doubled his side’s lead with a scruffy finish but no one could have imagined what followed. Barca and Sociedad scored 3 goals in the last 5 minutes of the first-half, helping poise the tie equally – almost – at 3-2. Messi then set up Paco Alcacer’s goal to make it 2 goals and an assist for the night.
It was a rather drab second half, going by what we had witnessed in the first one, and the game finished with Barcelona winning 3-2. Twitter, as you would expect, went wild as they hailed another superhuman effort from the Barcelona #10.
