It was definitely not what any of us were anticipating to see when Gerrard came on as a substitute for Adam Lallana in the second half, but a stamp on Ander Herrera meant that the English midfielder would be playing the shortest game of his English Premier League career as he was given a straight red by referee Martin Atkinson.
