It was a rainy Tuesday night at Molineux Stadium where the Wolves hosted Manchester United. United started the match with the expectations of all three points as they were looking to settle the 3rd position in the Premier League 2018-19 points table.Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made six changes in the starting line-up as the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof, Scott McTominay, Fred, Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot returned to United's colour to face one the toughest mid-table teams, Wolverhampton Wanderers. On the other hand, Wolves' superstars like Diogo Jota, Raul Jimenez, Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves all started the match. It was like they didn't want to lose a single point in this midweek fixture. The match started as United hit early in the first half. Scott McTominay's superb strike from the outside of the box at the 13th minute of the match broke the deadlock. Two minutes later, Rui Patricio made a brilliant save following a well-taken header from Jesse Lingard. Earlier during the match, Patricio also saved a perfect header from Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku. It was Patricio who single-handedly denied United forwards from extending the scoreline.Wolves started to fight back strongly as a silly mistake from United's midfield and defence helped Nuno's team to get back into the match. Diogo Jota made it 1-1 for Wolves at the 25th minute of the match. It was Fred who failed to control the ball on the wet surface, Raul Jimenez found Diogo Jota who made an absolutely stunning run into Man United's defence. Young was trying to keep Jota offside, but he failed to do his job as the Portuguese striker finished the job by himself. The first half ended with 1-1 scoreline as Wolves created a number of chances in the closing minutes of the opening half. The second half started as both teams started the half with high expectations. Both teams were able to produce a few big chances as the calamity came for United in the 57th minute of the match.United's captain, Ashley Young who was on a yellow card, committed a foul on Diogo Jota. After seeing the awful tackle, the referee chose to show the second yellow card of the night to Ashley Young. After this incident, United started to play with 10 players as Diogo Dalot took Young's right full-back position.Things went from bad to worse for United as they conceded an own goal in the 78th minute of the game. This time, Chris Smalling helped their opponents to grab the lead. After the second goal, it was all Wolves dominating over the ball possession. Their solid defence made United attack totally toothless.
