Nobody expected this but here we are; Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Girona at the Estadi Montilivi to win three historic points in La Liga on Sunday. This is Girona's first season in the top flight and the first time they were playing Real Madrid and a win over the defending champions will go a long way in building confidence.Isco had given Los Blancos the lead as early as the 12th minute but Girona had managed to hit the woodwork twice in the first half. The second half saw a much more eager and energetic Girona and two quickfire goals from Christian Stuani and Portu saw the Catalan side take the lead and they never gave it up.Here's how Twitter reacted to the result..@GironaFC's record v Real Madrid in #LaLigaSantander...played 1 won 1! #GironaRealMadrid 2-1 pic.twitter.com/1XQbGnAhXa— LaLiga (@LaLigaEN) October 29, 2017Real Madrid have lost an away game in LaLiga for the first time since 22nd February.Girona end their record-breaking 13-game win streak. pic.twitter.com/bDvBZtw0Ou— Squawka Football (@Squawka) October 29, 20171990- Real Madrid have lost vs a newly promoted in their 1st ever meeting in La Liga for the 1st time since 1990 (vs Real Burgos). Crazy that Barcelona are going to be eight points clear, when only in August, they were the ones in a crisis.
