Ryan Giggs’ 29-year long spell with Manchester United came to an end

Ryan Giggs has departed Manchester United after 29 years at the club as a player and later, as a coach. It was clearly evident that the 42-year-old will make a move away from Old Trafford after Jose Mourinho was named the manager of the Red Devils.

As a 14-year-old kid, Ryan Giggs joined Manchester United in 1987 and was handed his first-team debut in 1991 by Sir Alex Ferguson and went on to become one of the greatest players to have served the club. Giggs has more than 1,000 appearances under his belt and has won 13 Premier League titles, 3 League Cups, 4 FA Cups, 2 Champions League Medals, a UEFA Super Cup, an Intercontinental Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.

The Welshman made an emotional farewell statement wherein he stated it was hard to leave this club that he had been with since his teenage. The 42-year-old added that he will take away so many special memories as well as a lifetime of experiences that wil help him in future.

Giggs also served as an assistant to David Moyes and Louis van Gaal. But Jose Mourinho would want to give the assistant's post to his long time friend, Rui Faria.
