Russia hosted Brazil at the Luzhniki stadium today and the Brazilians ran out 3-0 winners in an end to end affair. It didn't look like it would be a routine win for Brazil in the first half as Russia defended very well and had a couple of chances themselves to take the lead. It ended scoreless at the half-time whistle.Brazil switched gears in the second half and increased the tempo. As a result, they scored the opening goal in the 53rd minute as Miranda stuck it past a helpless Akinfeev, who could only parry a header from Thiago Silva straight to the defender.Minutes later, Paulinho was pulled back inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Coutinho stepped up and buried it to make it 2-0. The tie was put into bed when Paulinho found himself unmarked inside the box and headed the ball into the net, after superb work from Willian.Russia played well and maybe the scoreline was a bit harsh to them as they had their own chances and came close on many occasions, including working the post in the second half but failed to convert any of them. Here's how Twitter reacted:Here are the goals:⚽️ 🇷🇺 Russia vs 🇧🇷 Brazil | Philippe Coutinho (GOAL) 62' pic.twitter.com/dgq51RCLuJ— D9INE (@CY_STADIUM) March 23, 2018🇧🇷GOAL: Miranda plays the clean-up man, and @CBF_Futebol find their first goal. pic.twitter.com/KdZtTkScmY— beIN SPORTS USA (@beINSPORTSUSA) March 23, 2018🎥 | Paulinho's goal, to make it 3-0 for Brazil.pic.twitter.com/jHvn5NF2D8— Barca Centre Media (@centrevid) March 23, 2018Brazil fans were clearly happy with the result.Philippe Coutinho is such a joy to watch. Paulinho, Coutinho, the centre backs and Willian were brilliant. Obviously there were flaws at the back up in front, but I am sure Tite will rectify those. #RUSBRA #VIVABRAZIL— Faisal Caesar (@faisalyorker) March 23, 2018Some stats to take away:BRAZIL with TITE:Games: 18Wins: 14Draw: 3Defeat: 1Goals scored: 38Goals conceded: 5#FechadoComASeleção pic.twitter.com/qnQHzrP80t— Seleção Brasileira (@BrazilStat) March 23, 2018Paulinho has now been directly involved in 10 goals in his last 13 games for Brazil.7 goals ⚽️3 assists 🅰️Tite's marauding midfielder. 🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/dJbydJ9Liq— Squawka Football (@Squawka) March 23, 2018Brazil stats vs Russia:Possession: 64%Total shots: 18Shots on target: 14Goals: 3 pic.twitter.com/jL4XVSTwNT— Seleção Brasileira (@BrazilStat) March 23, 2018
