An action-packed encounter

Germany and Spain faced each other in an international friendly this evening. An end to end affair for the most part of it, with star names on both sides, not once did it feel like a friendly. These two teams are among the bookies' favorite to lift the FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer and we all witnessed a preview of what could be a likely final.

From the first minute, it was a high octane clash and both teams had us all glued to the action. It was Spain who took the lead through Rodrigo, who finished expertly from a brilliant through ball from Iniesta in the 6th minute.

Germany, however, fought back and equalised through Thomas Muller who thundered a long shot past a helpless De Gea. It ended 1-1 at half-time.

Germany were slightly the better team in the second half as they forced De Gea to make a couple of excellent saves and also had a Hummel's header skewed off the crossbar. Both teams tried to mix things up with substitutions but neither could finish off their chances. Bragging rights were shared at the full-time whistle as the game ended level.

Here's how Twitter reacted:

The goals first, of course!
