Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has reportedly failed a drugs test, which has resulted in him being suspended by Liverpool. The club released a statement that noted that he would not be available for selection while the process of the investigation into his alleged consumption of a banned substance takes place.
Sakho apparently ingested the illegal substance from a ‘fat-burning supplement’, while not being aware of the composition of the drug. The situation is eerily similar to that of fellow teammate’s Kolo Toure, who was banned for 6 months when at Manchester City for a similar offence.
Twitter reacted with typical glee at the defender's situation poking fun at Sakho and Toure for the situation, while also noting Liverpool’s potential Europa League issues in Sakho’s absence.
