U-19 European Championships: Spain trounces Ireland 5-0 in semis

Spain once again managed to put another National Team in a European Final, this time in the U-19 Euro Championships being held in Romania. The young Spaniards defeated Ireland 5 – 0 in the semi final clash & now go on to meet the Czech Republic in the Final.

Spain's Morata in action

The Irish side managed to keep the flood gates closed until Spanish midfield-forward Deulofeu scored a “cracker” in the 27th min. From here, the Spanish tide rose & basically wiped off the pitch a good Irish side that simply played against the better team. The goals came in a steady flow, with Spanish Captain Sarabia ( superb on the night before being substituted ) scored in a fine goal in the 40th min, along with Juanmi in the 46th min & Morata with two goals ( 79th & 91st m) to take his tournament tally to six goals to date.

Special mention to the Irish goalkeeper McCarey who kept out at least four more goals & apart from the scoreline showed some real talent.

Good luck to the Spanish U-19 boys in the Final. If they win it will be amazing for them & Spanish Football.
