U-20 World Cup: Spain thumps Australia 5-1 in Final Group Encounter

The Spanish U-20 National team thumped Australia 5-1 in their last Group match in the FIFA U-20 World Championships, sending out a clear warning of what to expect for their opponents. Spain have now finished at the top of Group C in the tournament being held in Colombia and will next face South Korea.

The highlight of the 5-1 thumping of Australia was the hat-trick from Alvaro Vazquez who scored in the 6th, 14th and 18th minutes. Sergi Roberto opened the scoring in the very first minute of the game and Sergio Canales rounded off the first half rout in the 31st minute by converting a penalty, thus leaving the Aussies for dead within the first half hour of the game.
