Arsene Wenger’s side takes on Marseille for the third successive season in the UEFA Champions League group stages when they face the French club later tonight. The Gunners have remained unbeaten in their nine visits to France (W6 & D3).

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mikel Arteta, Abou Diaby, Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski, Tomas Rosicky have been the long term absentees. Although Wenger will be pleased after Olivier Giroud along with Mesut Ozil has been passed fit for the Champions league clash. Per Mertesacker is also available following sickness at the weekend & Thomas Vermaelen who made his first appearance of the season following back problem will be one of the substitutes.

For Marseille, André Ayew is available having missed the Ligue 1 game on Saturday through suspension, while defender Souleymane Diawara returned to training on Tuesday after a thigh injury sustained in Marseille’s 2-1 loss to AS Monaco FC on 1 September.

Arsenal had the better of the two games in the UEFA Champions League in 2011/12, winning 1-0 away through Aaron Ramsey’s late winner before playing out a goalless draw at the Emirates.
