It was the shocker of the week and European football governing body UEFA reacted by opening disciplinary proceedings against FC Shakhtar Donetsk forward Luiz Adriano following the UEFA Champions League Group E game against FC Nordsjælland on Tuesday night. What had happened? A player from Danish champions FC Nordsjælland was on the ground with the referee stopping the game. Thereafter, it is the referee’s ball and Willian from Shakhtar plays the ball back to Nordsjælland, but no one seems to have told Adriano who takes the balls, rounds off the keeper and scores amongst the boes and jeers of the home fans.
Due to the above case of unfair play Luiz Adriano now faces charges for violation of the principles of conduct (Article 5, UEFA Disciplinary Regulations), and his case will be heard by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Tuesday, November 27.
