Kampala (Uganda), July 28 (IANS) Uganda qualified for the 2014 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) football with a 3-1 victory over Tanzania in the second leg qualifier played here at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Uganda, popularly known as the Cranes, qualified with a 4-1 goal aggregate after their 1-0 away win in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, July 13, reports Xinhua.

Frank Kalanda gave the hosts a sixth minute lead before Amri Kiemba equalised 10 minutes later from a precise Mrisho Ngasa cross. Brian Majwega made it 2-1 for the Cranes after 48 minutes from the spot after defender David Luhende handled the ball in the box.

In the 62nd minute, Kalanda completed his brace when he beautifully placed one in the net.

“We have worked so hard to make it to the 2014 CHAN event and I want to thank the team for a job well done. This will open doors for professional football for many of these players when they play in the competition next year,” said Uganda skipper, Hassan Mawanda Wasswa.
