MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – OCTOBER 02: Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski and Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund during a training session at the Etihad Stadium on October 2, 2012 in Manchester, England.

According to media reports coming from the UK, Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson will fulfil his shopping needs from Borussia Dortmund once again.

Reports say Manchester United are tracking defence minded midfielder German Ilkay Gundogan and prolific Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, 24.

Sir Alex will face stiff competition for Gundogan from Tottenham with Andre Villas-Boas seemingly seemingly interested in the Turkish born international.

With a plethora of strikers at their dispense, a move for Lewandowski looks unlikely unless they offload Mexican striker Javier Hernandez. With all of United’s midfield and defensive frailties, the tough tackling Gundogan could yet be the most sought after player in United’s wishlist and could add the much needed steel in United’s midfield.

If he does arrives, he will link up with former teammate Shinji Kagawa who was bought this summer by United for £17million.

The price quoted for Gundogan is around £20million who turns 22 on Wednesday.
