Victor Valdes has found opportunities hard to come by at Manchester United, but insists he is staying at Old Trafford

Victor Valdes is staying with Manchester United despite interest from Turkey, his agent claims according to Sky Sports. Super Lig club Antalyaspor were reportedly interested in signing the Spanish goalkeeper, with the club president claiming they were close to agreeing a deal with Valdes. But his agent has come out and downplayed any talks of a possible exit.

Valdes’ agent Gines Carvajal did confirm an approach from Turkey but insists his client is not interested in a move.

“I’ve been contacted by a series of individuals from Turkey to negotiate a move for Victor, “ Carvajal told AS.

“But I haven’t spoken with the president of the Turkish club in question. I don’t know him. I have no plans to talk with them again as my player has no interest in a move to Antalyaspor,” Carvajal added.

Valdes who signed for United in January on an 18-month deal has only made two senior appearances at United, that too as David de Gea was injured for the final matches of the season. Carvajal though claims that Valdes is very much happy and plans to see out the remaining year of his contract.

“His only wishes are to remain at Manchester United and he has another year left on his contract. We don’t see any reason for him to leave the club,” Carvajal told AS.

Valdes’ agent forced to play down talks with Antalyaspor

Carvajal was forced to clarify on Valdes’ situation at United after rumours of a possible exit surfaced following claims by Antalyaspor. The highly ambitious club have been grabbing headlines with a number of signings, most notably Samuel Eto’o. They were also linked with a move for Ronaldinho before the Brazilian signed for Fluminense.

The club were very vocal in their interest in Valdes, even suggesting a deal was very much on the cards.

According to The Mirror, Antalyaspor’s press officer Hasan Ali Ceylan had said: “We are in talks with Victor Valdes. Once an agreement is reached, we will be able to sign yet another world star to Antalyaspor.”

Valdes will fight for his place at United: Agent

David de Gea has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid during the transfer window, especially on the wake of Iker Casillas’ departure from Los Blancos. Carvajal though claims Valdes is ready to fight for a starting berth even if that deals fail to go through.

“United are among the top two or three best teams in the world. Victor is keen to fight for a place next season and wants to help the club as much as he can,” Carvajal said.
