For those wondering what Andrei Arshavin is up to these days, he is currently playing for FC Kairat in the Kazakhstan Premier League. Apart from scoring goals, it seems he is also brushing up on his hair cutting skills (see what I did there?).
At the start of the season, Kazakhstani blogger Peter Volikova had promised to donate his hair if the former Arsenal star could score more than seven goals this season. Now, Arshavin is 35 years old and nowhere close to his peak when he lit up Euro 2008 and took Russia to the semi-finals before sealing a move to the north London club.
Fondly remembered for his four-goal haul at Anfield and a thrilling winner against Barcelona at the Emirates in the Champions League, Arshavin has faded into mediocrity over the years after a moderately successful spell at hometown club Zenit Saint Petersburg.
So when he scored his eighth goal recently, Volikova lived up to his promise and let Arshavin cut his hair in front of fans and the media. With Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger playing in the background, Arshavin went to work with an electronic shaver, much to the delight of everyone watching as the blogger silently let the Russian do his thing.
