Miserly Arsenal play host to big-spending Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in the first north London derby of the new English Premier League season.

Ian Wright, former Arsenal and England striker
(Who is going to win on Sunday?) “Well you can never call it, to be honest Charles (reporter’s name). It is one of those where it doesn’t matter how good the Arsenal team is or the Tottenham team and over the years you have had very good teams. One of them has been good, the other one not so good and then you still can’t call the derby. I think that is what is so good about it. And the fact that it is so early in the season – it is not life and death at the moment. So really, it is for bragging rights I think, for the fans.”

Les Ferdinand, former Tottenham Hotspur and England striker
(On the addition of Soldado, Chadli, Paulinho and Tottenham’s other new players) “Well, what we do know is that they are very good players. What the manager has to do is find the right blend which he will be doing. I mean, he has not had much time to work with them over pre-season because they have all come in drips and drabs. But I think once they get settled in the side, then we will be able to make a better judgement. But, you know, they are all good individual footballers. (They have) proven themselves wherever they have been. So we are hoping that they come to Spurs and can blend as quickly as possible and get us racing up the table.”

Tony Adams, former Arsenal and England central defender
(Who is the team top of the two?) “It is very close at the moment. That is credit to, maybe Tottenham’s, that they have gone up. And maybe a little bit to the detriment of Arsenal, that has come down. But certainly, there is nothing in it, there really is nothing in the game.”

Ledley King, former Tottenham Hotspur and England central defender
(on the atmosphere at an Arsenal-Tottenham game) “Yeah, it is the greatest game for the Tottenham supporters and players. You know, it is a game that stands out. It is a little it different to rest of the fixtures and there are a lot of new players in the Tottenham squad for this one, and they will find out how special it is.”
