In what was a bizarre turn of events, Internacional’s Fabricio was sent-off for abusing and showing the middle finger to his own set of fans, after he had been booed and jeered by them throughout the match.

The left-back received a lot of abuse from the crowd, and then gave in to his emotions, as he flipped the bird at the crowd, and abused them. He was then shown a red card by the referee.

After the initial incident, as he was getting booed, the Internacional captain, Andres D’Alessandro and the goalkeeper could be seen trying to ask the crowd to stay calm.

The whole incident left a bad taste in the mouth, with the player then taking his shirt off, despite many of his teammates trying to stop him and calm him down (principally former Brazil international Juan).

He then left the field still very animated, making gestures and talking to the audience, as it looked like he was saying that he would never play for the club again.
