It was a bitter-sweet day for a young fan at the Bernabeu after he was hit by a Cristiano Ronaldo free-kick during the team’s warm-up routine. He may have been hit by the ball, but he went home with a shirt worn by Ronaldo himself.
Ahead of the Champions League quarter-final against arch rivals Atletico Madrid, the Portuguese star was practising free kicks at one end of the pitch. Unfortunately, one of the free kicks ended up hitting the young fan and Ronaldo was visibly concerned and upset.
While medics at the stadium looked at the young boy, Ronaldo continued to warm up with the rest of the team. But as soon as the team sprinted back to the dressing room to get ready for the game, Ronaldo came up to the fan behind goal and gave him his shirt in a sporting gesture.
The fan was couldn't believe his luck and was moved to tears, happy with the fact that he got the forward's training shirt. Ninety minutes later, he must have been over the moon as Real Madrid beat Atletico 1-0 with a Ronaldo assist converted by Chicharito.
