Shandong Luneng hosted Guizhou Renhe on Sunday with both sides challenging for second place in the Chinese Super League.
The home side were looking to extend their three-point gap over the visitors.
Shandong almost opened the scoring in the ninth minute, but Argentine midfielder Leonardo Pisculichi’s strike sailed just over the crossbar.
After a goalless first half, it was the hosts who struck first, taking a 47th minute lead when Roda Antar headed home Pisculichi’s cross.
That lead was short-lived, with Rafa Jorda levelling matters in the 48th minute after Xavier Chen’s header across the penalty box.
Antar had a late chance to win it for Shandong, but he headed over and the game ended 1-1.
