“You don't become the greatest player ever by letting the haters affect you.” That’s the tagline for adidas’ new commercial featuring Lionel Messi as part of the ‘There Will Be Haters’ campaign.
The commercial features Messi listening to a voice who tells him he isn’t good enough, that he will never succeed in Europe, that he will never win trophies or individual accolades. And all the while, his achievements come to the fore surrounding him like an aura of truth that eventually silences his staunchest critics!
The Argentine forward has been in superb form since the turn of the year. He is scoring goals at will while also making a mockery of his opponents with a masterclass performance during the recent Round of 16 match against Manchester City.
There is no question that he is arguably one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Will he become the greatest ever? Only time will tell.
