Video – Neville: If Manchester United can’t win the title then I’d like Arsenal to win

Whilst still not the favourites for the Premier League title, current league leaders Arsenal are at least emerging as the neutral’s choice for the league. Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher both admitted that if their respective former clubs – Manchester United and Liverpool – didn’t win the title, then they would like to see the Gunners lift the trophy. However, the duo were unanimous in their belief that Manchester City have the division’s best squad.

“It pains me to say this”, said Neville, “but when they get their act together I think Manchester city will take some beating. Arsenal are the team that if United didn’t win it then I’d like to see win it, but I think City for me are the strongest. “

“That performance against United – I can’t get that out of my head. It was a fantastic performance.”

Carragher agreed on the strength of City’s squad, but also wants Arsenal to win the league if his old club cannot.

“I think City are the best team and the best squad on paper,” he said. They (Arsenal and City) play each other next weekend, [so that game] could be the difference.

I’d love Liverpool to win it, but if not then I think we’d all like to see Arsenal win it. If they buy another striker in January to share the workload from Giroud – hopefully then they could go on and do it. I’d like to see them do it if it wasn’t Liverpool.”
