Video: Player's outrageous celebration on scoring a tap in after teammate's brilliant assist

Jonathas Elche

Just when you think you’ve seen just about every kind of celebration on the football pitch, someone comes along and surprises you. This time it was Elche’s Jonathas de Jesus against Real Club Deportivo de La Coruna.

This might be the “coolest” celebration we’ve seen on a football pitch so far. In the sixth minute of the game against Deportivo, the Brazilian Jonathas headed the ball wide into the path of Damian Suarez who made a weaving run into the box beating three players in the process and found Jonathas in the box.

The striker on loan from Pescara had the easy task of redirecting the ball into the back of the net. While everyone else swarmed to Damian Suarez to appreciate his skill in the build up, Jonathas wheeled away to the touchline and put on a pair of sunglasses and posed for the cameras.

Jonathas has scored 11 goals for Elche in the league but this has to be his best celebration by far!

Wonder what Thierry Henry would have to say about this having been critical about Javier Hernandez’s goal celebrations following his Champions League tap in from Ronaldo’s assist.

He might not be a Messi or a Ronaldo but his ingenious celebration will be the stuff of legends.

As expected, the internet reacted to this brilliant bit of celebration, here’s a tidbit of that:
