“We Are One”, a song by American rapper Pitbull featuring Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte was named the official 2014 FIFA World Cup song, and will be featured in the Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Album “One Love, One Rhythm” yet to be released by Sony Music Entertainment.
The official 2014 FIFA World Cup song was released on 8 Apr, 2014 on Pitbull’s VEVO channel and will be performed at the World Cup opening ceremony.

The official 2014 FIFA World Cup song is a successor to Shakira’s hit song “Waka Waka” which was the previous official anthem of the tournament when it was hosted in South Africa four years back.

‘I grew up in a house that loved football, so I am thrilled to be performing at the World Cup opening ceremonies with Pitbull and Claudia Leitte,’ Lopez said.
Leitte, a Brazilian axé and pop singer, adds a unique samba flavour to the song which features English, Spanish and Portuguese lyrics, which gives the song a much needed global appeal.
The trio had recently shot the video of the official 2014 FIFA World Cup song in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with the set staged to mimic the scene of a Brazilian carnival.

“We Are One” is on line to be the third hit by Latin stars for the World Cup. 1998 World Cup theme song, “The Cup of Life” (La Copa de la Vida) was the first hit, which was followed by Shakira’s “Waka Waka”. The 1998 song shot the bilingual singer to instant stardom, after the song went to the top in 7 countries. The Latin pop explosion was sparked by Ricky Martin’s performance at the Grammy awards, which essentially paved the way for bilingual Latin artists into the mainstream.
