Spanish giants Real Madrid kicked off their pre-season campaign in style as they trounced MLS club LA Galaxy 4-1 at the LA Coliseum in style in the ‘World Football Challenge’. The match, which was billed up as the reunion of David Beckham with his former club, turned out to be a walk in the park for the visiting superstars from Madrid as Jose Mourinho’s men looked sharp and gelled well together.

Cristiano Ronaldo did not disappoint as he provided the crowd plenty of entertainment

Jose Callejon and Joselu kicked off the rout by scoring in 30th and 39th minutes respectively as Real looked venomous in attack with Kaka playing incisive passes and displaying his exquisite skills of old and Coentrao pushing forward after being deployed in midfield, as the duo turned out to be the stars of the match. Fabio Coentrao, the new big money signing from Benfica, was arguably the best performer of the match as he constantly troubled LA through his marauding runs forward and pin-point crossing, most notably setting up Benzema’s goal in the 57th minute.

In the second half, Jose Mourinho rolled out the goal scoring big guns namely Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema who got themselves on the scoresheet, with Ronaldo most notably sending the the 56,000 odd crowd into raptures by performing multiple stepovers before viciously sending the ball crashing into the net with a left-footed shot in what was the best moment of the match.

LA did manage to pull one back in the 66th minute Adam Cristman, but the order was too tall already.
