With Hannover down 2-0 against Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday, hardly anyone would have put their money on the visitors to make a comeback. With two first half goals from Bas Dost and Ivan Perisic, Wolfsburg were on their way to an easy victory against the relegation-threatened Hannover.
However, two minutes is all Hannover’s Jimmy Briand needed to kickstart a comeback routine before Salif Sane would go on to equalise with a spectacular bicycle kick in the 58th minute of the match, earning his side a well-deserved point.
The draw was not the ideal result for both Wolfsburg and Hannover as Wolfsburg are yet to guarantee their place in the Champions League qualification while 16th placed Hannover continue to battle so as to avoid relegation from the German first division.
