Former coach, Julen Lopetegui, was reluctant to start Vinicius with the first team but his successor Santiago Solari did not repeat the same mistake.

In his debut year in Spain, the Argentine magician featured only nine times for Barcelona, starting just once in a Copa del Rey fixture. In his first LaLiga season, Messi managed just 75 minutes and scored one goal.
