I want to finish with dignity, won't play in USA or Qatar says Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he wishes to end his career “with dignity”. He does not see himself playing for a club in United States, Qatar or Dubai.

In an interview on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show, CR7 said, "In my mind I want to finish in the top level, I want to finish with dignity so in a good club. It doesn't mean that to go USA or Qatar or Dubai is not good but I don't see myself (going there)." Last month he created record by becoming Real Madrid’s all time leading goalscorer. The 30-year-old has thrice won the Ballon d’Or, an award given by FIFA to a season’s best player.

This statement can be a reference to top players finishing their careers out of Europe’s top leagues.

The list of such players includes Didier Drogba, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa, along with Xavi. In the interview, the Portuguese star also expressed his desire to continue playing for six or seven years. He said, "I'm still young I think. I am 30 but look 25. I want to play for six or seven years more and think I am still able to win collective things, because if you don't win collectively you cannot win individual things.”

Ronaldo has hinted that he might leave his current club Real Madrid next season. Top clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to bid for him. The Sun has reported that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is seeing Ronaldo as his main target for the next transfer season. The football star’s previous club Manchester United also has plans of roping him in.

According to a report by Sky Sports, former Manchester United star David Beckham has suggested that if Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid, he should definitely join United. Becks also added that if he was given a chance, he surely would have re-joined the Red Devils.

He said, "If he decides to leave Real Madrid then for me personally it's back to United. I never had the opportunity to do so - but I'm proud of the teams I played for after United. We've always played with a certain style, with a certain passion, and I think when you play for Manchester United and are around the club you realise that.“

The 30-year-old also said that he does not see Barcelona star Lionel Messi as a rival. He said, “I don't have rivals, we have a normal relationship. We shared this stage at FIFA for eight years. No one has done that in the past -- only us -- so it's good. I have a good relationship with him, he plays for one club, I play for another club. He won the best for him, I won the best for me.”
