What is the story?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-time finish against the Swiss brigade in the semi-finals, has been voted as the Goal of the Tournament in the UEFA Nations League.

Cristiano Ronaldo made a clean sweep in terms of podium finish, as all three of his goal against Switzerland occupied the first, second and third spot, while Matthijs de Ligt’s towering header came fourth on the list.

Portugal made history after beating Netherlands 1-0 in the finals of the inaugural UEFA Nations League on Sunday. This was Portugal’s second international trophy in the last 3 years as they previously clinched the UEFA Euro in 2016.

However, Portugal’s talismanic captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has played a captain’s role to get his team over the line. The 34-year-old Portuguese might have failed to score in the final, but still ended up being the top scorer of the tournament with 3 goals to his name, thanks to a tantalizing hat-trick in the semis against Switzerland.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s three goals against the Swiss brigade has taken all places on the podium for the SOCAR Goal of the Tournament award voted by the fans.
