What's the story?

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been seen going head-to-head with Barcelona ace Lionel Messi to promote Pepsi in a new advert.

In case you didn't know...

The Liverpool forward has been the brand ambassador of Pepsi since 2016 joining an array of footballers like David Beckham, Roberto Carlos and Carli Lloyd in promoting the brand.

Last week, both Messi and Salah shared behind-the scenes footage from the shoot location but the full video has now dropped.

The heart of the matter

Salah has released a thirty-second version of the ad on his social media account with the caption '#FORTHELOVEOFIT'.

The video begins with the Egyptian and the Argentine arriving at a petrol pump in what appears to be the middle of nowhere.

In the midst of the sandy surroundings, the duo spots a refrigerator with a single can of Pepsi in it.

This is when the fun begins. To determine who deserves the can of Pepsi, the two Ballon d'Or nominees unleashed a huge amount of footballs from a display unit and began challenging each other to an array of shooting drills.

The video showed the two players kicking balls at a sign, at headlight sockets of a ruined car and through the holes of moving tires.

After matching one another in each drill, the duo were surprised to see that another man had arrived at the petrol station and proceeded to drink the sole can of Pepsi.

The video ends with the two chasing after a Pepsi lorry that passed by them with their arms up in the air.

What's next?

While Salah's Liverpool is set to take on Bayern Munich in a Champions League Round of 16 clash on the 19th of February, Messi's Barcelona have been scheduled to face Valladolid in La Liga on the 16th of February.
