Wenger confirms key Arsenal midfielder set to miss crunch Dortmund clash

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere is unlikely to be available for their Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

The Gunners star picked up an ankle injury in the home fixture against the German giants two weeks ago and was forced to pull out of the latest squad for Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Liverpool.

But Wenger is unsure if the Englishman will be able to make it into the travelling party to the Signal Iduna Park for the crunch clash with Jurgen Klopp’s men.

“Jack has an inflamed ankle,” Wenger told reporters after Saturday’s game. “Will he be available for Wednesday? I do not know. We will have to wait until Monday to see.”

The Gunners boss is likely to reprise his midfield of Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta for Wednesday’s fixture after their performance against Liverpool.

Wilshere has been a creative force for Arsenal with 12 chances created for his team-mates in nine games this season, leading to one assist.
