Manchester United were solid in their victory over West Brom

Manchester United returned to winning ways following their Champions League defeat to Olympiakos, by putting three goals wast struggling West Brom to run out 3-0 winners at the Hawthorns. Goals from Phil Jones, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck gave them the three points, relieving some of the pressure on manager David Moyes, but leaves Pepe Mel’s side on the brink of the relegation places.

West Brom:

Ben Foster (-34): A tad fortunate to last the 90 minutes after what looked to be a first half handball, Foster made just one save.

Steven Reid (9): Won both of his attempted tackles and also made five clearances and one interception.

Jonas Olsson (7): Won two tackles, contributed six clearances and two headed duel victories, as well as setting up one chance at the other end.

Marouane Fellaini (69): Won three tackles, four headed duels and five interceptions on his return to the side, as well as eight clearances on a solid display from the summer signing.

Adnan Januzaj (-36): Fairly quiet before being subbed; Januzaj made just 15 passes and failed with both of his take on attempts.

Robin van Persie (-3): Walked a disciplinary tightrope before being substituted and was successful with just one of his five tackle attempts, giving away four free kicks.

Wayne Rooney (42): United’s most creative player, Rooney set up four chances for his teammates as well as scoring United’s second goal.

Substitutes:

Danny Welbeck (17): Took two shots on goal, scoring one.

Shinji Kagawa (-1): Did little, making just nine passes.

Nemanja Vidic (0): Dropped from the starting line up, Vidic had a three minute run out as a late sub.
