West Ham United Striker Andy Carroll has sustained a foot injury but the extent of the injury still remains to be determined. The 24-year-old is yet to feature in a game for the Hammers after he was bought from Liverpool for a club record fee of £15m.

The England international was on loan when he first appeared for West Ham and had scored seven goals from 24 appearances and was later struck down by a heel injury.

Manager Sam Allardyce was expecting the player in training form September but Carroll showed up from Monday only to get injured again.

The club reported the incident on their website and are waiting for a specialist to access the player’s situation.

“West Ham United can confirm that Andy Carroll suffered an injury to his right foot during his return to full training today,” read a statement on West Ham’s official website.

“Although it is in the same part of his foot as his previous injury, it is a new injury and therefore there will be no prognosis until he has seen a specialist. whufc.com will provide a further update when the relevant information is available.”
