What's the news?

Speaking about the controversial basketball game between Real Madrid and Barcelona, Gerard Pique has insisted that the Los Blancos show hypocrisy when it comes to refereeing decisions. According to the Barcelona star, they always complain and rue over the referee's decisions.

In case you didn't know...

Barcelona's basketball team won their 25th Copa del Rey title as they beat Real Madrid Baloncesto 94-93 in the final of the competition.

However, the game was surrounded by a lot of controversies as the referee made a number of questionable decisions during the game.

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez is considering to withdraw Real Madrid out of the competition, in protest of referee's decisions that he believes cost his team the game. They also published an official statement on their website, expressing their displeasure regarding the same.

The heart of the matter

Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique, believes that Real Madrid always complain when decisions go against them.

He said(via Goal):

"[Madrid's complaints] happen in football, it happens in basketball, at least they don't have any other sports because we'd have to suffer it in hockey and handball too."
"Then they go to the Wanda, the referees help them and then they shut up and don't complain.

He also believes that Barcelona lost Copa del Rey 2014 finals because of the referee's wrong decisions.

"There were mistakes [in the Copa final] in Madrid's favour first and then in Barca's favour. And well, later we had this whole show from Madrid with the referees.
"In the end if the referees hadn't been wrong Barcelona would have won. In the end it is all noise to cover up the usual issue, that Barcelona are champions, and to hide the merits of the players who lifted a cup in Madrid.
"I am very proud of these players.

What's next?

Barcelona and Real Madrid will next face each other for the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final on February 27, where matters are bound to heat up as always.

The first leg at Camp Nou ended with a score line of 1-1.
