Who is Augsburg midfielder André Hahn?

Even though Bayern Munich has dominated the Bundesliga with their fire power, it has been a good journey for Augsburg this season as they are currently sitting in 8th place, thanks to André Hahn – the surprise package in the Bundesliga who has been in terrific form in recent matches.

Unbeaten in 8 matches so far, it has to be said that Augsburg is in contention for the Europa League spot. Having started their league campaign poorly, they have to thank one man in particular. He is André Hahn. He scored his 9th goal this season in style notching up 3 spectacular braces in the run.

Hahn, who played in the regional divisions of the German football setup, was bought by Augsburg from Kickers Offenbach last January. Even though his natural position is on the right flank, he prefers to cut inside and score goals instead of setting them up. He has all the qualities of a perfect winger (which is rare to find these days). He has the ability to cross as well as defend well but commits fouls more often.

Due to the lack of a good strike partner in the team, his assist tally has been limited to only two even though he has 23 crosses averaging 1.2 per game. He is strong in the air, can make excellent tackles and can even drop back deep into midfield when his team has to defend.

Averaging 1.2 key passes per game, it is strange to know that he has a pass percentage of 56.2 which is worse for a talented outfield player like him.

Many teams lack the connection between defence and midfield resulting in numerous mistakes and conceding a lot of goals. Hahn’s willingness to drop into midfield when needed established a good connection and resulted in Augsburg leapfrog into the 8th position.

Considering his form lately, there is no surprise that he might be snatched by a European giant in later stages as he can provide two diverse roles as a winger and as a midfielder. Let us see where he heads to in the coming days!
