With Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi likely to leave at the end of the season, Jurgen Klopp will be looking to buy a back-up striker for Roberto Firmino. Origi and Sturridge have done well this season in the Brazilian’s absence.

Some of their goals have been really important for Liverpool in the team’s title chase this season. Origi’s last minute goal against Everton and Sturridge’s late winner at Chelsea has really helped Liverpool shape up its season. But with these strikers leaving, Klopp will have to decide on the player who could provide competition for Firmino as the team’s main number nine.

With the transfer window approaching, the German manager should consider signing Marseille’s Florian Thauvin. The former Newcastle man has been one of the best players in Ligue1 this season.

With 12 goals in 23 games, he has been Marseille’s top scorer this season. Although his preferred position is in attacking midfield, the 26-year-old Frenchman can play as a forward as well.

This versatility of Thauvin can help Liverpool solve two issues. First one is the back-up role to Firmino and second is the much-needed midfield creativity.

Playing as a forward for Marseille, he has managed to score 3 goals in 9 appearances, which is not a bad ratio. While playing as an attacking midfielder, the World Cup winner has managed 11 goals in 15 appearances this season.

The Frenchman is a massive attacking threat to any defence in the world. He likes to cut inside from the right and score curlers. He has a powerful left foot and possesses strong finishing skills which make him an asset in any team. He likes to dribble with the ball and is a huge counter-attacking threat with his speed and agility.

Thauvin who failed to shine at Newcastle has thrived with Marseille ever since he left England to join his boyhood club. In 225 appearances for the club since leaving Newcastle, he has scored 74 goals.

At Liverpool, he can compete with Roberto Firmino for the number nine role and can even add to the attacking depth of the team. Liverpool needs to add to its midfield creativity and Thauvin ticks all the boxes for Jurgen Klopp.

The Frenchman is a world-class player and he can take the Anfield club to the next level. Improving the team’s squad depth will help Klopp and Liverpool challenge for more titles and will reduce their problems during an injury scare. It will also help increase the team’s efficiency, as many players will be competing for a place in the starting eleven.

A move to Liverpool will be perfect for Thauvin and his career. A move back to England will enable him to grow more as a player and a person. The Premier League’s level and quality will help take his game to the next level.

A manager like Jurgen Klopp will be immense for Thauvin to boost his development, and playing alongside world-class players will assist the 26-year-old in achieving his true potential. The Frenchman could follow in Mohamed Salah’s footsteps in transforming to a Premier League star from a Premier League reject.
