Liverpool FC has been breathtaking this season. The football played by Klopp's Reds this season has been as good as any witnessed anywhere this season. The Reds have been one of the most exciting teams to watch this season with their fearsome attack almost always guaranteeing goals, and their defense, albeit much improved after the record signing of Virgil van Dijk, offering encouragement to the opposition.

The statistic that Liverpool have put at least five goals past every opponent they have faced in Europe thus far is evidence of how scintillating they have been going forward.

Brighton come calling for Anfield's final game of the season

Despite scored loads and loads of goals this season, Liverpool go into the final league game in a position where they do not need to score a solitary goal to seal Champions League qualification for next season; that is as long as they don't let one in either. A draw would be enough to see this year's Champions League finalists qualify for next season's competition with a superior goal difference to challengers Chelsea.

Liverpool should fancy their chances of getting at least a point, bearing in mind that they are yet to lose a game at Anfield in the league this season. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to seal qualification against Brighton with a win to gain some momentum going into the final

A top-four finish is the least Liverpool would expect to achieve given their performances throughout the season. That, coupled with a Champions League final appearance, would be a successful season in itself.

On to the final

With league duties completed, the attention shifts to the small matter of a Champions League final. A win against Madrid in Kiev will undoubtedly make a successful season. It will also, regardless of what goes down against Brighton, guarantee a place in the Champions League in 2018-19.

The final will be in the back of the minds of the players and it will be up to Klopp to ensure his charges are ready and focused on Brighton. It remains to be seen what lineup he goes with for the Brighton game but a strong lineup is expected.

Worst case scenario

Despite Liverpool having their destiny in their own hands in the league, an unlikely defeat against Brighton, coupled with a Chelsea win at Newcastle would leave all the eggs in the Champions League final basket. A subsequent defeat to Real in the final would turn a positive campaign into one of regret, maybe even failure.

Liverpool's season, therefore, comes down to Brighton and Real Madrid. Defeat in both could spell disaster. A win against Brighton could spell success. A win against Madrid would be perfect.
