Why Robin van Persie should get the PFA award ahead of Luis Suarez

Manchester United v Everton - Premier League

Just before the start of the 2012-13 campaign for Manchester United, Sir Alex had signed his most important player in that transfer window. It was Robin van Persie, the man arriving from Arsenal for 24 million pounds. He arrived during the peak of his career and at the right time for Manchester United.

Robin van Persie started his sparkling career at the club in his first game at Old Trafford versus Fulham, with an amazing volley from Evra’s cross.

From then on, he proved why he was worth 24 million pounds even though he was 29 years old. He carried on his hot goal scoring streak from Arsenal last season to Manchester United. Also, with Wayne Rooney absent due to injury at the start of the season, he filled his boots too.

Luis Suarez is the leading goal scorer for this season with 22 goals and Persie is just 3 goals behind him. So what makes van Persie deserving of the award?

  1. Van Persie has scored against all the top 6 teams of the league.
  2. He has scored goals on away turfs such as Anfield, Stamford Bridge, White Hart Lane and at Etihad.
  3. The present lead that Manchester United have can be mainly credited to van Persie for his stunning form at the start of the season.
  4. Not just scoring goals, but RVP has 8 assists to his name so far this season, 4 more than Suarez.
  5. In addition, van Persie has scored goals against Liverpool and his former club Arsenal at Old Trafford.
  6. Suarez never rose to the occasion when Liverpool needed him the most and Liverpool hardly managed to win games against the teams in top half of the table.

The above points sum up why van Persie should win the PFA Award ahead of Luis Suarez. van Persie’s terrific start in this campaign and his goals against big teams have helped Manchester United to maintain the 1st place in the table. Van Persie deserves to win this prestigious award.
