Will Borussia Dortmund qualify for the Round of 16 ?

German giants and 2013 Champions League runners up, Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of getting knocked out of the greatest Club championship after their shock 1-0 loss to Arsene Wenger’s side three weeks ago. Jurgen Klopp’s tactical master plan to conquer the Gunners broke into pieces after their rock solid defence weren’t able to put a halt to Ramsey’s brilliant header. The absence of Turkish midfielder, Ilke Gundogan has seriously brought down the much needed technical ability, skill and spark needed in the midfield zone.In order to keep their hopes of qualification alive, Dortmund has to win or face an appalling end to their Champions league campaign.

“We have to work hard again, this will be like a final for us” – Sokratis, Dortmund defender

Dortmund failed to cope with Arsenal‘s high pressing and slick passing movements, which were the crucial factors that ensured Arsenal the victory. Former Madrid playmaker, Mesut Ozil was able to outclass and penetrate the Dortmund defence in the final third. Klopp’s side sit third in their Group with 6 points. A comfortable win over Italian powerhouse Napoli can definitely help their side to qualify for the next round. Mkhitaryan’s jaw dropping football technique’s in midfield has been instrumental. Borussia’s back to back losses against Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich means that they will have to showcase and produce their best performance with their quick counterattacks and fast direct play against Rafa Benitez’s side.

The great threats and efforts of Gonzalo Higuain and Callejon will have to be thoroughly dealt with. Visiting manager Benitez will be without Mesto and Zuniga because of injuries, but Hamsik is likely to feature. When the two sides met in Naples, Rafa’s side beat Dortmund in 2-1. Subotic and Hummels have been sidelined which leaves Greek defender Papastathopoulos and Sebastian Kehl to keep defensive duties in their hands. Klopp may look to pick Jakub Blaszczykowski in the right wing due to his experience rather than Aubameyang. Napoli will travel to Dortmund as they know that a draw would feel the same as a loss. The stadium support factor could be crucial for Borussia to grab maximum points tonight.
